Firekeepers Daughter by Angeline Boulley
نویسنده: Angeline Boulley
Eighteen-year-old Daunis’s mixed heritage has always made her feel like an outsider, both in her hometown and on the nearby Ojibwe reservation. When she witnesses a shocking murder, she reluctantly agrees to be part of a covert FBI operation into a series of drug-related deaths.
But the deceptions – and deaths – keep piling up and soon the threat strikes too close to home. Now Daunis must decide what it means to be a strong Anishinaabe kwe (Ojibwe woman) and how far she’ll go to protect her community, even if it tears apart the only world she’s ever known.

5 Stars! Firekeeper’s Daughter is a stunning debut!! The stand out is definitely the Ojibwe community. The use of language, traditions and culture create a vivid world, as well as some memorable characters. I loved everything about this book!!!! I went into this one completely blind and it really was an emotional sucker punch. I’m purposely keeping this vague, as the less you know going in the better. Jackie rated it: 5.0 from 5.0
“We don’t forget our lost ones.” This was so much at once: a thriller/mystery, contemporary fiction (or would this be considered historical, since it’s set during the early 00s? I feel old!), a romance… And it did all of it so incredibly well. I’m honestly in awe of how good this was, how it encapsulated so much in such an in depth and nuanced way without it ever feeling like too much. If I had to tell you to read one book this year, I would tell you to read this one! Anniek rated it: 5.0 from 5.0
Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley was wonderfully written and I enjoyed every single piece of it!!! It deals with family, friends and school. Daunis the main character has to deal with a lot of stuff. Such as the death of her uncle. Her Grandma’s illness. The end of her Hockey Career. College choices and so much more. I loved how the author wrote all the characters and their part of the story. I loved all the Indian Culture and words and customs. I loved how this story takes place in Michigan where I’m from! This is an intense story so be aware of drugs, rape, cheating, lying, and drinking. A+ BookNightOwl rated it: 5.0 from 5.0
