After reading and loving this author’s “A Gentleman In Moscow” I could hardly wait to get my hands on this novel. Set in 1950’s America and spanning over 10 days, 18 yr old Emmett and his young brother Billy along with Emmett’s acquaintances Duchess and Woolly set out on a road trip to California along the Lincoln Highway. The author takes the readers on a very touching and entertaining adventure! High adventure set in 1954 rural and big city America. The Lincoln Highway is a tribute to the likes of Tom Sawyer, The Odyssey and every other ‘heroes journey’ epic worth reading. At nearly 600 pages, I only wish it were another 200 pages, it’s that enjoyable. The characters are highly defined and archetype-credible. The story, set over 10 days, is tightly woven and made me reminisce about my own childhood and early adulthood. Easily a favorite book in the past several years.
